Basketball is a big deal on the Crow Reservation in southeast Montana. For generations, the sport has strengthened social connections and fostered pride and physical activity among the tribe’s youth. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana provided balls, hoops and T-shirts to support an annual basketball tournament organized by the Crow Head Start program. The Plan’s relationships with tribal leaders has yielded new opportunities to expand access to preventive health services.
