#1 - Know Your Pharmacy Network

It's important to use in-network pharmacies. Using the right pharmacy could make a big difference in how much you pay for your prescription drugs.

Some members even have two types of in-network pharmacies: Value and non-Value. Know your plan and look up your pharmacy network before you visit your doctor. Log in to Blue Access for MembersSM, click on the Pharmacy tab, and use the pharmacy search tool.

#2 - Talk to Your Doctor or Pharmacist

If the cost of a drug is too high, talk to your doctor or pharmacist about your choices. They will help you. They may have access to your drug list and can help find a similar medication for a lower cost to you.

#3 - Go Generic!

Generic drugs often cost much less than brand drugs. Find out if there are generic drugs or lower-cost alternatives right for you. Log in to your account, click on the Pharmacy tab, and use the drug search tool.

Ask your doctor or pharmacist about the choices you have. Remember, treatment decisions are always between you and your doctor.

#4 - Know Your Drug's Tier

You may have a list of covered drugs by tiers. The number of tiers depends on your plan. The lower the tier, the less amount you pay. Some plans have up to 6 tiers.

Have questions? Get answers about drug lists and drug list tiers.

If you know the name of your drug list, you can find it here. Or you can find details about a prescription drug and its tier through your BAM account.

#5 - Ninety-Day Supply and Home Delivery

Your benefits may include getting a 90-day supply of maintenance drugs. These include drugs for high cholesterol or high blood pressure. Based on your benefits, you may be able to get these at a retail pharmacy or delivered right to your door.
